MTV ASIA AWARDS 2005

After all the long waitings, advertisements, promotions.... the MTV Asia Awards (MAAs) 2005 premiered last night (February 3rd). But it kind of disappointed me.

MAAs is one of the major events of MTV Asia that i really anticipate, because it is the ONLY event where the best of the West meets the best of the East. But this year, the show kind of reformatted. Because of the tragic Tsunami that had devastated South Asia, MTV Asia decided to make the main show a sort of benificial concert , and it was dubbed as the MTV Asia Aid. the winners of the MAAs were awarded in a different way. Check it for yourself. If you are in asia, check out the show times at MTV Asia.

Anyways, the MTV Asia Aid was, well... AWESOME!!! yeah! It was hosted by Alicia Keys. The opening act was Hoobastank... their performance was cool, even though Doug Robb's voice was not that cool because from what i have read, he suffered from bronchial pneumonia while they were touring. I have also noticed some Asian artists. Rain was cool, i like his moves. I think the asian artists should have done an english performance so that other foreign viewers could understand them. There were also clips showing the heart-pounding tragic results of the tsunami.

I don't want to pre-empt you guys, so you just have to watch the MTV Asia Aid yourself. Don't worry, it will also be shown in Europe and America and the rest of the world where MTV exists. Watch out for Simple Plan and Good Charlotte. I give a 9 out of 10 rating for MTV Asia Aid.

It's true, MTV Asia Awards 2005 kind of disappointed me, but the MTV Asia Aid did not.

MTV Asia Aid here in Canada was pretty bad. I was looking forward on seeing Jay Chou but then they only showed the performances by the North American bands..like u said, Simple Plan and Good Charlotte. It didn't last very long...it felt like the show was only for half an hour. I also think that they deleted other performances by the Asian bands...no idea why. Last thought, they wasted the time by having the actors/musicians talk about how they felt on the catastrophe. I'm not saying that its pointless....for me, its like a publicity stunt and that's it.
